Three Wheeled Buggies
Whether you're looking for a buggy run with or just a compact stroller for strolls around the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies are great for mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight areas.
If you're looking for an easy ride in your baby, opt for models with 360deg front wheels that swivel. They are, however, susceptible to punctures. Make sure you have an repair kit.
Frame made of sturdy material
New figures show that the three-wheeled buggies that were the symbol of the decade that were more expensive than common sense, are in rapid decline. Four-wheelers are replacing them, and are more versatile and easy to drive and look fashionable.
The larger the wheels are, the better your buggy will cope with uneven surfaces and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels both rear and front allow you to move and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy out with a newborn baby and a toddler and found it to be very robust. It was able to withstand grass, cobbles and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. She noted that it was solid to push and extremely solid on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable and require occasionally pumping) offer built-in suspension that was very comfortable for my children.
Another thing to think about is the size of the seat and shape. You will want it to be large enough for your child's comfort and you will also require it to recline so that they can lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies offer a full lie-flat option while others will only allow an adult facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road or walking in muddy areas. It can be used as a single unit from birth and then adapts to take two children when your family grows. It is suitable for babies and toddlers up to age 4 and includes a bumper bar, raincover, improved 5-point harness, and a large cushioned seat. Storage options are also good with a large basket, zip pockets on the hood, and an extra pouch on the rear of the seat unit.
Wheels with a larger diameter
Larger wheels means that your buggy will have more stability on rough terrain - perfect for buggies that are off-road. They also help you maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies come with wheels that swivel on the front, which help you navigate tight corners. Others are designed to run and have fixed wheels that lock for increased speed and stability. This is especially useful when you bump against trees or a kerb. The front wheel can be lifted slightly to keep it from hitting it.
A lot of 3 wheeled pushchairs come with air-filled tyres which allow them to tackle a broad range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They also tend to be lighter. However, they are prone to punctures, so you'll need to have a repair kit, spare tube and pump handy.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo lux are some of our favourite 3-wheelers. These buggies, as per MFM's Kath, have larger wheels which, she says "perform well on grass, gravel roads and market town cobbles" and are able to climb or descend kerbs. They also have a suspension that according to Kath "smooths out bumps extremely effectively".
Buggies with larger wheels may be quite large, and they may be a challenge to fit into tight spaces. This can be an issue if you're using it as a jogger or to to get through doors that are narrow when out and out and about. Most models come with compact folding options, which permit you to take off the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.
Easy to manoeuvre
A three-wheel buggy can be easier to maneuver with a child. They are designed so that the front wheels can rotate at a moment's notice, and are easy to move, making them ideal for challenging terrain such as cobblestones, parks as well as bumpy roads and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried an all-wheeler with her toddler. she reported: "The Terrain is a pleasure to drive on uneven terrain. The swivel wheel in the front was especially helpful." I was also awed by the way it handled kerbs when using the hand-operated break. I found it to be extremely stable when going downhill or over uneven terrain."
The only downside of this great mobility is that the 3 wheel buggy 's larger wheels sometimes mean that it can struggle in tight spaces - something to be aware of especially if you live in a urban area. If this is a problem, a 4-wheel buggy might be better for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars will protect your child from scrapes and bumps when out and out and about. They are easy to put in place and will help your child feel secure and safe while out and out and about.
It is designed to complement the sleek lines of the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller, this bumper bar features a soft and padded surface that offers an ideal place for your child to hold to when walking. The durable construction and sturdy design ensure that your child can take a stroll around town without worrying about falling out of the buggy or leaning too far ahead.
The sling is stowed inside the frame it is not positioned on top like the modular seat. This creates a lower centre of gravity for your infant at the right height and also provides great weight distribution, making it easier to climb over curbs (it is much easier to push a stroller up and down than you think). MFM reviewer Kath said it's great on grass and cobbles. It's also a great alternative for running, thanks to its air-filled tyres and lockable swivel wheel.
With a stylish and sophisticated look this bumper bar is sure to turn heads wherever you go. It's available in a range of colours and finishes to fit your personal style. The bumper bar is easily removed and installed using a quick-release mechanism. The bumper bar is also easy to clean since it is constructed of sturdy materials. This makes it a great choice for families who want an elegant and safe accessory for their stroller.
Comfort
A 3-wheel buggie offers the most maneuverability and performance when going off road. With perfect geometry and weight distribution, this style of buggy can change direction on a dime and be a breeze to steer with just one hand; and all Mountain Buggies are tested to the same rigorous global stability standards and tests as buggies with 4 wheels.
With a fabric sling seat that is tucked away inside the frame instead of on top of it like modular seats, the Sport's clever design allows it to have a lower center of gravity that is the perfect height for your child - providing you with a smoother push, a lighter curb pop (you don't require any effort or weight to push the nose of your buggy up and over the curb) and a greater stability and balance. With 16" rear wheels, lockable front wheel, and tyres that are air-filled that allow you to enjoy an easier, more comfortable jogging.
The only stroller that is all-terrain in our collection with an adult-facing seat that can also accommodate an infant car seat or carrycot, you can make sure your family is prepared for every adventure starting beginning from the first day, and for years to be!
Kath, our MFM reviewer, also loved the roominess of the buggy. There's a big easily accessible basket that's quite spacious for such a small buggy, plus there's an excellent zip-up pouch on the back of the seat unit, and two smaller mesh pockets under the hood to keep your keys and phone.
